Christmas Show

Hello... And Sorry for not writing my blog for more than 1/2 a year!
I had been busy in many different ways. 
Found new work but feeling the down fall of economy every day :-(


I just thought I would post my Christmas cookie seriese 2012!
My mom and I was a vendor at Benvoulin Church Christmas Show.  This show is crazily busy every year.  And this is one of the best Christmas show in town!!  If you have a chance next year, please come by.  You will enjoy it for sure!
This year, I just thought I would make Santa cookies.  They are made out of a heart shaped cookie cutter.  I've been checking out different site online and finding out I don't have to use specific cookie cutter for a specific cookie.  A heart shape cookie cutter can be very useful!  This is one way of using it and also I found another design from someone else that uses aheart shaped design that I can apply to cookies :-)  shall do that and will post it soon!




I also made few other Christmas themed cookies this year.  They are totally cute! 
My gingerbread boy turned out kind of dark.  I used black strap + molasses.  I think that could be why he turned out to be really dark... 
haha so it's not chocolate flavour, it's really a gingerbread kid :-)



I really do bake and create more than cookies, you know...  I'll post some more photos of cakes!

Pretty in Pink!





I think spring has finally arrive in my town.  It was long cold winter that dragged for awhile. I personally like cold weather.  But when winter being indecisive about whether it wants to stay or not, I do feel we had enough of it.   So I thought, I'd make a 'Spring' cake.  This cake is basically a fresh fruits short cake. I wanted to get out of 'regular' looking strawberry shortcake. I also wanted to practice my rosette piping.  Then for the design, I used my favourite ombre look.   That's how this cake was created :)

Thing with this cake is, all rosettes are made out of whipping cream.  If you like cake to be super sweet, I suppose you could use butter cream.  Thing with this was working it quickly.  The temperature of my hands start to melt whipping cream fairly quickly!!!   It would be awesome to change the colours of this cake :)

Kawaii?? Skulls



I found this skull cookie cutter at the bulk barn the other day. I always wanted to make kawaii punk skull cookies. I thought I'd let my imagination play with it. I had little heart cookie cutter, and cut out his heart. haha. Voila! It's super kawaii!

Then I thought... It's so sad, that I didn't make entire pirate themed cookies! I think I do have a flag cutter, so next time, I'm going to make pirate themed cookies!!

Anyway, you know that feeling of "OMG, I need a vacation!" ? That's exactlly how I'm feeling right now. I have this hugest drama at work, that's getting on everyone's nerve. So, I'm not trying to make an excuse but when I come home and I have to bake cookies &/or cakes, I procrastinate. I sit in front of PC and play with it. Then what happenes? OH yeah, I still have to bake cookies for clients!!! It is 11:30pm, cookies are still in my oven getting ready for shipment. This order though, my client only wanted cookies without deco... So I think, I'm still gonna put eyes on these cookies!

The Lorax!


So, I thought I would try to make Lorax cookies.  I have to be honest with you.  I have neither read the book, nore seen the movie...  Oh, what the heck!  He is SO CUTE!  

I decided to trace pictures onto a parchment papera so I can place this on to cookies.  Okay, this was much harder than I thought...  At least I know there is always first time for everything!   At least I know each time I create something, I learn new things.  It's just so fun learning and creating at same time.  I'd love to try to make the Lorax cookies again!  To do so, I need to change some of the steps I made! 


 Here I am, tracing the Lorax and the Unless sign.  I have to let you know, I would NOT use parchment paper for this technique.  Once icing is on a piece of parchment paper, it starts to get wrinkled from the moisture in icing!!!  Thin plastic sheets would be the best for this use.  Plus, you get to use these sheets again.  Ugh!  When I saw papers get wrinkled, you have no idea I was so sad!



Okay, so, I got this idea of using cotton candy for his great mustache from
Sweetopia Just like what she says on this blog. You MUST eat cookies with cotton candy right after you make them!  Because once cotton candy sucks all the moisture, it shrinks and becomes really hard!!

Okay, so, the story is...  I was going to give these cookies to two tiny girl friends.  Unfortunately, I was only able to give cookies to one of them that day.  I saw the other one next weekend, so I saved some for her.  She was so happy and told me how good it is.  I was worried about cotton candy being ugly looking.  Well, what 10 yrs old kid cares when something sweet and awesome is given?    haha all the stress I had for nothing.

P.S.  This technique is fun.  Results are totally awesome.  BUT!!  You will have a cookie with THICK icing.  The girl's dad thought I was turning her into a stray monkey hahaha
